Does anyone see this anymore??

Just wondering.....I'm currently on duty and bored :/

Jan 7, 2011

These are the kind of things I find important right now.

I legally bought amaretto today! :)

Thank you weird floor for my introduction to it, specifically Alex Hill and is crazy ass psychopath roommate of last year, and his parties.

Maybe I'll post about the actual travels I'm doing later, but until then, I'm going to go enjoy my alcohol.

Initiative!!

The first real post of the new year, not just bitching about how we need to revive the flog ;]

NOFX!! Yeah that happened. Colleen's friends are CRAZY in some of the best ways. There was much merriment, at times too much merriment, a shitty cab driver, a band in drag and public urination!!

So yeah a great second new years ever. The first pre-new years eve was at emily's the night before, that was sweet too.

Then up to santa barbara to deliver emily safely to school. She lives in a house suitable for a beach bum drug dealer, so you know the perfect house for emily.

I've slept in a different house the last 5 nights and am coming back to san diego proper tomorrow to make tamales with gladyssa and do some serious research, if you know what i mean ;] but that merits its own future post.

Great break so far. But I miss my weird flooooooor!!

ay yo, weird floor.

anybody still read this? because i think it should be revived. especially seeing as like a thousand of you all are leaving next semester.

just saying.

Sweeet Misery

I miss you. Oh weird floor.

Sweet is the memory. Sad is the end.

Why does shit happen like it does?

Fuck, man.

California here we come

Dawn is approaching. Quickly.

Cross-country road trip, commence.

Aug 1, 2010

they look like fireflies

so the family (bethereed, alyssa, darcy and anthony) have been reunited! and it is in the south. so that is interesting. we have seen a great many glorious amounts of things. we have met her family. her mom really does play a lot of world of warcraft. her brother (is a ginger!!!) is really cool. she has awesome friends. i have liked them all. one of them is super capitalistic. he is nice, though. also, darcy and alyssa tried going to an imax movie. but they couldn't see anything. and we tried teaching ben (the brother) the importance of Ju-Ju-Be's.

all of those are metaphors. they will be explained at a later day.

but yes. we are going to leave for our cross country road trip soon. it is going to be a series of great days. at the end, we're going to see Staci, Jacqueline and Colleen. I'm excited for that little coincidence.

ok, well I think that is all for now. the south is fun.

omg. i almost forgot. We went to Waffle House/WaHo/The Holy House/The Last Free Place on Earth. Well, we went twice. But time number 1 we only drank coffee and planned our trip. The second we ate DELICIOUS food-ums.

yes.

Track Record. And Scoring.

I have a history of picking up random people and then making them my best friends in short amounts of time. Boys that I crush on, sprecifically.

I met my latest victim at a UNM football players party... Chloe and I were playing video games with these two guys, one of whom was from Riverside. We started talking about CA and NM, and as he is going to be a freshman at UNM, I decided I needed to show him some fun out here in the 505. Chloe and I wasnted to take them hiking. We left that night with no solid plans for a hike, but the next weekend I ran into my new friend again, got his number, and told him a hike WOULD happen...

It hasn't happened yet, but I did take him and another guy to a party with me, took him left over food from a dinner at Sara's, made him go on a mission with me in which we bought 7 Whopper Jr's and attempted to trade people whatever we could get for them, and watched movies/ Katt Williams with him at my house. And our hike is sceduled for when he gets back from football camp...

I'm kinda a creep. Haha. But It's fun having a crush who I know I'll only see every now and then, as we will be swapping states for the majority if the year... And did I mention there was kissing? Score.

I want to make him go with my to my sister's wedding when I come home at the end of September, too... we'll see if I'm ballsy enough to make it happen...

Erg.

Went backpacking with my pops this weekend.
It was grand. Until the ride home.

He was trying to tell me that a business degree would be a wise move.
Good thing all I want to do is transfer to a school that has a good art program and get my BFA. FML.

P.S. I don't want to leave any of you... And it may not even happend...but let's get real... I need to be at a school that has at least 5 kilns so I can fire shit ALLLL the time.

How can you sleep at a time like this- unless the dreamer is the real you

Guys, I just ate Vegan Double Chocolate Cake. Badass Vegan Double Chocolate Cake.

I made a discovery a few weeks ago and have just now been able to go. It's this place called Elixir. It's a café that specializes in Vegan foods (but also has meat for those of you that require it). And they have tea and smoothies and boba. Oh my gosh. So. Good.

Couches also line the walls for dining and talking and, I like to pretend, reading with tea. And there's a small stage which, after talking to the owner, is for the live entertainment.

Their "Grand" opening is Sunday. Needless to say, I am going. It's like.. 5 minutes from my house. I'm pretty much going to spend all of my down time in the next week at this café.

Staci, I miss Living Room Café haha. This is a nice alternative though. I'm pretty sure this is the only place in Las Vegas that I actually want to be at.

So glad and SO EXCITED to be leaving next week for G-Vegas.

Plus, I am in love with this week. Gladys AND Seann are going to see me. That's 66% of my friends that just got into town. I think these are very good statistics so far. Especially when we consider that it took the past 2 months to convince one to even come.

Bethe Reed and Darcy: You can finally meet Seann next month. YESSSS

P.S. I've decided to change my major. Atleast... that's where I'm headed. English. (Teaching still.) I want to surround myself with books for the rest of my life.

gold teeth and a curse for this town // were all in my mouth

1- DarSAY, bad ass target baby girl.

2- Antonio, welcome home, I'm glad you arrived safely :)

3- Told my parents about the tat tonight. Mom is still freaking out. Dad said it was "tasteful" then proceeded to tack the "Things I Could Have Done That Are Worse Than Getting a Tattoo" list on his wall. I LOVE MY DADDY. He's the coolest republican I know. (Trumps Arjan urrday)

URGH

so, i had a really long post. well, it wasn't that long. but it was informational. and then i hit the backspace button and for whatever reason it changed the page i was on and delted the whole thing. BOO

redo (with less effort out of anger)
Katy Perry California Gurls: eh
Parady, California Gays: YES

Utah: really wholesome, but was my layover
United States: where I be. hit me up. (on my videophoooooone)

Best Friend: read her ticket wrong and spent an hour at the airport last night. but now will spend the day with me.

Room: a complete mess.

Jul 18, 2010

while my brother was drunk tonight i decided to paint a giant target on the wall in his room that he uses for throwing knife practice.

he might still like it sober...

Just a meandering thought...

I don’t really trust anyone. Not even myself. That’s likely a bad thing.

Weird Floor Announcement

To all concerning parties (Alyssa, Bethe, and Lenna) I just want to let you guys know that I will be in San Diego this weekend so if there is anything from the storage you guys need you should let me know before sunday preferably via fb or w-flog but after saturday it must be done via text and if i don't reply back via fb or w-flog by sunday morning you should probably text me. For those of you who are inconveniently far (Lenna and Bethe) I'm willing to mail anything you need if it's absolutely necessary. Peace!

P.S. I have been neglecting weird-flog lots and for this I apologize...

Jul 14, 2010

and all the things i believed with all my heart when i was young // are now just coasters for beers and clean surfaces for drugs

OKAY SO.

You know how sometimes things just line up right?

Well I got this speeding ticket a while back on the way to the beach. (Not my fault, it was 4 hours away and I left after work I was just trying to get there before morning) It was $185 and 4 points because I was 20 over and apparently that's bad, but that's not the point.

I had to go to traffic court today in Laurens County (hourish away) which I was pissed about until I was at Target 2 days ago and I found this AWESOME dress that was maroon and beautiful, only this time it wasn't solid colors (because we all know how I have this debilitating affinity for solid colors) so it was just perfect, minus the fact that they didn't have my size. So the lady calls the store in Simpsonville and they DO have my size, which became perfect because Simpsonville is right in between Greenville and Laurens and holy Lord almighty I had to go to Laurens today anyway for my ticket!

So hitting Target on the way was still an hour long drive, only I had to take back roads because I-385 has a lot of construction but the point was back roads are the best inventions ever, I mean talk about stuffing your eyes with wonder!

Only this wonder wasn't as vast or as impressive as all the wonder up and down the 101, but it was still wonder and I loved it just as much if not more so, and I'm trying to figure out what this means, that things so small and ordinary are just as wonderful as things we're supposed to be monumentally moved by.

Target didn't even have my dress (LIARS) but I saw wonder, and my ticket got reduced to $81 and 2 points, and I listened to this new artist named Frank Turner, who I think Darcy will like best but he's just basically a BAMF and also English so who can really top that besides possibly Elton John.

Also I'm in love. His name is Mason and he lives at Waffle House as much as I do. He's small and has fucked up teeth and smokes way too much pot but he is captivating and real and has the best blue eyes and I can't remember the last time I was this attracted to someone, especially someone who's not that "attractive" in the conventional sense.

We've never really talked except for the time I was wearing my leotard and he said my tattoo was "awesome" and he "really likes it" and that "you don't see birds done that well often" plus it's "really original."

I want into his pants, ASAP. Screwy teeth and all.

You're not even aware you're such a funny pair

In beloved memory of Ethel, this song is to be played with this post:

It is my sad duty to inform all of weird floor that another life has been lost this summer.
Her name is Ethel, she is 19 years old, and she will soon be put to rest for good.

We spent three unforgettable years together. I was so afraid to drive her that I went home crying some days (I blame the teacher though), but she was patient with me and all was well. She escorted me to my first year of college and to many events at all hours of the day. She never protested my impatient driving, and her tiny frame made my life so much easier.

Of course, she wasn't without flaws.

Only two speakers worked.. if she was feeling really good that day. I could lock people in my car because her switches didn't work. The carpets don't stay down. The AC barely puts cold air out. The middle console pops right off. It always took at least five tries before the windshield wipers would even think about turning on, and turning them off could leave them stuck in the middle of my windshield. Pleather seats. The side-view mirrors barely stayed up. Nobody should EVER have to see the acrobatics I have done many times just to close the gas tank. She lacked power steering... leading to some very interesting attempts at getting out of parking spots. Oh.. and who could forget this:

And this:

She was the best first car I could have ever asked for. As it turns out, those loud noises she's been making for a while are very very bad. According to her doctor, the question is no longer IF she will cease to run, but WHEN she will cease to run. She has been deemed too old and too sick to operate.

I am going to retrieve her from the doctor tomorrow, and she will be brought back to my house. She will not accompany me to San Diego next month.

She will be missed.

Everyone's a hero in their own way

I've been busily experimenting in the kitchen.

I made Oatmeal M&M cookies. Always a good choice.

One night I baked teriyaki tofu and put in on rice.

Yum.

I also tried Miso Soup somewhere between that one and the next one.
It did not turn out well.
The picture is deceiving, so I will not be sharing it with you.

Then, last night Nadine and I made teriyaki noodles.

I will be making this in the future. Nadine and I were very happy with it.

Oh, and we had to have dessert...

I also went to Eclipse with my aunt Tuesday night. I don't think I'd ever experienced so much dorkiness over a movie. We had to go searching (unfortunately unsuccessfully because I thought of the right store too late) for an Eclipse shirt and fangs so she could wear them to the premiere. I expected that of Darcy, and other people my age, but I went with a group of teachers. Love it.

...then I turned around and went to the Avatar premiere last night.

...Needless to say, I surpassed my aunt's dorkiness. Easily. With paint.
If only the movie was as awesome as we were.

Newest piece of trivia I have found out through a tattoo blog I follow on tumblr:
Oregon's state motto is
"She flies with her own wings."

I just fell in love with Oregon a tiny bit.

What happens in Guadalajara....

So what started as a lazy morning watching horror films til 3pm ended up being one crazy night. My cousin invited me to a friend's house to "hang out." Of course "hang out" among Mexican teens means "pistear" which consists of lots of discussions about nothing and lots of drinking.
So, though I hate beer and that's all they had, I decided to live it up. At some point the discussion went from futbol and Mexico's next game to how we as Mexicans going to "antros" (night clubs) and listening to trance music were honoring foreign cultures. Then we decided that nothing is better and more powerful than listening to mariachi music.
Since the people at the house we were at were ready to go to sleep we decided to go to this other guy's house where, after being bored and close to falling asleep on the couch, we started dancing to banda music while throwing toilet paper everywhere. It was great. Conveniently we were 3 guys to 3 girls so we decided to dance and switch partners every now and again which was a bit dangerous but entertaining. It was especially dangerous when I had to partner up with our ride who was a bit too drunk to dance and kept falling all over the place, but it was still hilarious.
Anyway... it was a great night and I got home safely at close to 4 a.m. Lovin Guadalajara and really getting the full experience of being Mexican. Hopefully I'll have more crazy stories to tell later...

Change Means Kissing Your Freedom Goodbye...

A political sentiment worthy of the former confederate! Only this gem comes to you from unbearably sunny San Diego ... County. It was conveniently located just down the street from where the tea party was protesting with signs saying things like "we're tea'd off." Clever.

On an unrelated note, I was at home depot today and I found a plant that closes its leaves when you touch them I have been entertained for no less than three hours. I also found a potentially rug for next year, it was a pretty nice play rug with a town on it, only 19.99. Roomies, we shall have to discuss this expense...

I've gone hiking twice this week. I'm gonna be real with you there isn't much else to do. I've decided that hiking is just a sad thing people from Ramona do to get a view of slightly more civilized Poway. Mary and I are going to go gym hopping, exploiting "first class free" offers to take kickboxing so that one day we can kick ass. More on that soon.

i awoke to find a city on fire

yesterday was awesome. last night was scary.

so we have a 4 day weekend this week. it has been exciting. yesterday, i slept in. much needed. then i got ready and headed out to meet my friend Lauren. We went to this awesome cafe/ furniture store. Yes, they are both a cafe and place to buy couches and chandeliers. Then, we headed downtown (El Centro) to meet Gladys. While waiting, we found another cafe/ art gallery. One painting had a girl running that said "Corre Puta Corre" or Run Bitch Run! It was awesome. Then we found Gladys (who had been asked if she was a prostitute). Then we walked around and found a movie theatre. We saw Toy Story 3. That movie was AMAZING. As well as really sad. But awesome. Then we found a restaurant that had a train. We ate dinner in a train, and it was sweet. Then we parted ways with Gladys to go home. This was where the challenge set in. It had begun to rain, but by the time Lauren and I got off the Tren Ligero (metro/trolley thing) it was pouring. We were sopping wet and damaged from hail by the time we got to a bus (because the only taxi we could find wouldn't take us, we believe because we were wet). We then got to a mall near my house, but it was kind of late and still very rainy so we decided against walking. Also, the water was as high as the curbs, in some places, quite higher. Needless to say, we were sopping wet. And of course, we couldn't find any taxis. None. We found one, but he said it was too dangerous. Then we finally found someone who would take us. He dropped Lauren off and then took me home. He then gravely overcharged me. That was sad. But I did get home, finally. It was an adventure. Quite an adventure.

oh! i forgot. While in El Centro, Lauren and I were trying to cross the street. This is quite the task here in Mexico. I'm 97.3 percent sure that there are not driving laws, restrictions, or guidelines. Literally, a lot of times, lanes are not marked. Anyway, the traffic was backed up on one side, so we went out to the middle, but realized that the traffic was still flowing on the non backed side. so we waited. and moments later, the backed up traffic was no longer backed up. so now there are cars driving (quickly) on either side of us and we are just standing on the yellow line praying nobody hits us. it was horrifying. and funny.

Please Beautiful Bethe Reed and Darcy

When I was young, and I asked for something from my grandma, she used to make me say "Please Beautiful Grandma." She rather enjoyed that.

But focus: How much convincing do I have to do get glow in the dark stars on our ceiling next year?

If we've already discussed this, pretend we didn't because I don't remember. :D

Weird floor, please feel free to share your feelings on this matter. I'm afraid this might cause a heated debate. (Of which I plan to prevail.) I decided it needed to be posted on here because I hoped I could get at least a couple of you on my side hehe.

A brand new addition to the old edition, with the love unconditional

So I just need to make it known to the world that my rotary phone is now fully functional. My uncle fixed it for me and we plugged it in and used it. It's got an awesome ring. My house doesn't have a land line or I'd tell you all to call me just so I could use it, but the thought counts.

I'm also slowly mastering the art of fried tofu. with Garlic of course.

Bethe Reed: my toes are teal. I'm very excited about this.

I think I've watched (and by watched I mean had on in the background of whatever I was doing) Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog about 4 times in the past week. If any of you haven't seen it, look it up. It's 44 minutes of pure happy. ...In the sense that Dr. Horrible is an evil villain played by Neil Patrick Harris who thinks the world is a mess and he just needs to rule it. But Captain Hammer keeps getting in the way.

I've decided Haruki Murakami is one of the best authors ever. Anthony I'm very very glad you read Kafka on the Shore. You need to read the one I just read. It addresses sheep in the same confusing yet fascinating way that Kafka addresses... everything. As in it really just makes no sense. And I suddenly know random sheep facts that I find far more interesting than they should by. Then there's the fact that the connection the book itself has to sheep is minimal. But it's entirely about sheep. ...I'm banking on your ability to understand what I'm saying right now.

Everyone, you should really read at least one of Murakami's books. Just sayin. I'm positive Anthony has said this before, and I've agreed, but I'm just restating it for increased significance.

Oh! And I acquired bows for my hair today. I've been searching for those bow clips that you see mostly on little girls, unsuccessfully. My cousin Avi doesn't wear hers anymore. Aunt Lori told me I could take some. I only have 2, possibly 3, but I'm still delighted by the prospect of using them.

My dearest weird floor
I have recently returned
from the Motherland

здравствуйте, я тосковалa без Вас.

That says "hello, i missed you." Well, technically, it says "I am grieved without you." but close enough.

So this is the group that went to Russia. There were a lot of us. I wasn't paying attention. Anywhoo, i'll get the pictures up on facebook when i stop being lazy, so that might take a while. The trip was sweet!! Tons to tell you all, but it was definitely weird being totally cut off from people for weeks!

Jun 16, 2010

smiled and said yes, i think we've met before

I just learned something that Gladys and I found absolutely hilarious. We were sitting around before classes and Chad had a spacey moment and I called him a bad RA (jokingly). What happened was that I had said something about Gladys, and since she was right next to me he assumed that I was speaking about somebody else since I said "Gladys" instead of "her." This lead him to confess that for the first semester, he didn't know Jacqueline was his resident. Then we laughed. And he tried to say that it was just a week. Or just the first month. But I have a strong feeling that he meant the first semester. Sorry, Jacqueline. But I think this is just an ode to 1. Chad's spacy-ness and 2. your complete business. Regardless, it was funny.

Also, Gladys and I explored today. That was fun. And then I took public transport home. Did I know where I was going? No. But Gladys that I needed to get off on this one trolley stop. That was enough for me. I stopped at a gas station and got directions from there. Pretty awesome.

**edit: I just noticed Di is following Weird Flog. Hell yeah ;)

One bedroom studio apartment.

I need one. Now.

For cheap.
Fuck.
